Above the narthex is the organ loft or choir gallery, used by the music group and the choir.  The gallery affords an interesting view of the church interior and is reached via a set of stairs from the narthex near the entrance to the Presbytery.

Historically St Austin's has always had a reputation for the quality of our church music.

This is illustrated by the fact that in 1846 St Austin's choir was used at the opening of the Church of the Immaculate Conception at Spinkhill, with an organist aged only 14

Thanks to the many members of the music group and the choir,  this reputation looks set to continue for many years.
