Old Stone Font

Not much is know of the history of the stone font and its origins.  The font stands in the old baptistry to the left of the sanctuary.  It has a wooden hinged top which can be removed for the ceremonies themselves, although this font is now out of regular use.

The font has octagonal sides and four of these are decorated with religious images depicting angels and supernatural forms, carved out of the stone itself.

It has been suggested that the font may have been transferred at some point in the past from an Anglican church, though no records have been found relating to the font at all.
