Painting of Our Lady

Some people love it and others hate it, but the striking image of the Blessed Virgin Mary on the back wall of the Lady Chapel is not something which can easily be missed

.

The painting was discovered during the 1990's restoration, covered over with plaster.  It had originally been painted in the 1920's by Archibald Jarvis of Ipswich who met and fell in love with a local girl who became the model for his painting of Mary.

It was Archibald's grandson, Martin Jarvis, who was called in to restore the painting as part of the church redecorations in 1991
