A plaque is formally dedicated by Mayor Norman Hazel to the men of the parish who died in World War Two.

Two of St Austin's parishioners, Fr Peter Smith and Fr Michael Hughes are ordained in July and celebrate their first masses in St Austin's.  Fr Simon Lodge, ordained with Fr Peter and Fr Michael, joins Fr Nunan at St Austin's.

The Knights of St Columba, Wakefield (Council 454) celebrate their Golden Jubilee in April.   A number of the founding members of the Wakefield branch are still active within the organisation.

St. Austin's church undergoes a refurbishment and repainting and work is completed in time for the Christmas celebrations
